Ryan-ism for Daddy

Today the kids and I drove down to Marietta to have lunch with Daddy (a sidenote - it's so cool to see Ryan get excited about the Big Chicken!). After we dropped Daddy back at work, Ryan was going through his goodbye Daddy, bye Big Chicken, etc. Then out of the blue he announces:

"When Mommy get bigger, Mommy go to work like Daddy."

Gee thanks little man.

Ryan-ism for Nana

Last night we went to a pumpkin farm with Nana. We had a great time riding the tractor, playing on a playground, picking our pumpkins, eating a picnic dinner. As we were leaving, Nana told Ryan she had a present for him and pulled a little book out of her purse for him. Trying to be the good mother, I prompted Ryan, what do you say?

"More presents in there?!"

Um, not exactly the answer I was looking for Buddy!

Sibs

Yes, Ryan & Abby have the occasional sibling rivalry. Especially now that Abby is getting bigger and stronger and mobile. Ryan's not too fond about sharing his cars and other toys with his sister. "Abby no touch my car!" But you know, 95% of the time they absolutely adore each other and I'm not sure there is anything better then watching your kids interact together.

Ryan loves to pick up Abby, lay next to her, try to help change her diaper, etc etc etc. I just love it when he lays down next to her and talks to her. Or brings her a little toy of her own. He gets so excited when she learns something new. "Abby rolling over" or "Abby sitting up!!" And last night at bedtime, I stood Abby up on Ryan's bed to say good night to him. We quickly realized that Ryan's toddler bed railing is at a perfect height for Abby and she held on and stood for quite a while. I don't know which was better - watching her stand up or watching Ryan's face light up. "Abby standing up, holding my bed." He was such a proud big brother and I was such a proud mother of the two best kids ever :)

Brasstown Bald

Sunday we drove up to the Blairsville area to see Eleanore. We had a wonderful time! She had a delicious lunch ready for us and then we headed to Brasstown Bald. It was wonderful, clear day and we enjoyed the beautiful fall views. Thanks to Eleanore for a great day!

Air show

Today we headed down to Marietta for the airshow at Dobbins air force base. It was so freakin' awesome!! I still can't get over how cool the planes were and the rush from seeing six Blue Angels flying right over us! When I grow up, I want to fly one! Ryan loved the first few planes - smaller planes that made cool smoke designs - and most importantly weren't loud. The fighter planes and Blue Angels would go ripping by right over us and that was super loud, and therefore super scary. But he said he liked the red plane (the one pictured below flying straight down while making curly smoke rings). Daddy and Mommy loved the Blue Angels the best though :) And Abby doesn't have much to say about any of them - I think she must be the only person in history to fall asleep with six Blue Angels showing off over her head!

Ryan-ism for Auntie Sarah

Last week, I took the kids to a pumpkin farm with their little friends Asher and Andrew. As we were driving home, I was asking Ryan about the day and what he did and what he liked, etc. We got talking about the fish he fed and the goats too. And then he mentioned feeding ducks too. I said, no buddy, no ducks today. No, feed ducks with Sarah, Maxim. Okay ... why, yes we did feed ducks with Auntie Sarah ... two months ago! And then he says three white ducks. Okay, I don't know if I should be impressed or scared!! :)

Six months old

Happy six month birthday Sweet Abby girl! Abby is doing great - tall and skinny with a big head. :) She's sleeping twelve hours at night and usually takes two good naps. She's still nursing, but we've just started some real food too. It's not as fun & exciting this time around, just messy, so we kept putting it off! But I think we're making progress. She rolls all over the place and can sit up for a few seconds at a time before slowly falling over. And of course she's super cute! We love you baby girl!

crazy amounts of fall fun

Sometimes I don't blog because I can't think of something to blog about. Other times there is too much going on and I am overwhelmed and don't know where to start. This past week or so follows into the latter category - so much going on, I don't know what to say :)

Ryan just turned three and we have been having a wonderful time celebrating. There is a whole album dedicated to his birthday festivities in my picasa album, so check it out for the story in pictures. Lots of fun, cupcakes, family, friends, pizza, and everything else that makes turning three great. Happy Birthday little man, I love you Bug!!

We've also done all sorts of fun fall things - a hayride at Ryan's preschool, the Cumming fair, the pumpkin farm, a corn maize, watching our Bulldawgs finally get a win - and all this in the last four or five days! Busy busy indeed, but such a great week. We've enjoyed spending time with lots of family, Aunt Lolly & Uncle Brian drove down for the corn maize (alright, maybe not just for the maize). And Ryan's loved spending time with his buddies Asher and Andrew.

As always, even when I can't keep this blog up to date, be sure to check the picasa pictures page. A picture tells a thousand words or something like that right??

More Ryan-isms

We were at Ryan's three year check up and he had several funny things to say.

As we were leaving, he got to pick out a sticker. "Probably only one. Other peoples need stickers too." Woohoo, learning to share and think of others!!

We're sitting in the car and I'm skimming his notes before leaving. I'm trying to read the new charts with Ryan's height, weight, etc. Out loud to myself and Ryan, I said something along the lines of if I'm reading this right when you're 20 you'll be 6 foot, 160 pounds. From the back seat: " I have two foots!!" Ahh yes, silly mommy, even at 20 you'll still only have two foots :)
