Happy Anniversary to us! Yesterday we celebrated the big 0-5! We started the day very romantically by going to the bank - oh wait! Seriously though, we did have a nice lunch at Frosty Frog where we ate the best chicken salad sandwiches around. Then Nana babysat last night while Coleson and I went on a real date! Being ever frugal though, we did use giftcards.
We headed down to the Perimeter mall area since we had to find somewhere that had both a regal cinema showing a movie we could agree on and had a PF Chang's (giftcards are great!! Merry Christmas to us!!). After driving around for probably 15 minutes trying to find the theater - google maps led us completely astray - we saw Narnia Prince Caspian and it was pretty good. Fortunatly we did the movie first - a 4:35 showing. There was a decent number of people in the theatre but nothing too bad. However, when we walked out of the theater at 7ish it was mass chaos. The lobby was absolutely packed and we had to work real hard just to get to the door to leave. And then in the parking lot there were cones and a cop and a line of cars back on to the road. I'd never seen anything like it. We were wondering if the world was ending or something, but I think that many people were just trying to park and go to the movies. Obviously I don't speak for the majority, because I can't imagine waiting and circling like that to park and then standing in line to pay $20 (I'm not exageratting that - it was $10 a ticket) to squish in like sardines to watch a movie. It was absurd. But thanks to Coleson driving like a bat out of you-know-where, we made it out of the parking lot and were on our way to PF Changs for dinner.
So we get to PF Chang's and they have regular parking and valet, and Coleson and I both hate valet. We drove round and round with no luck at a regular spot. But of course the area that was blocked off for valet was almost empty, which pissed us off. So we drove to a parking lot across the street and parked ourselves. Then we proceeded to run across four lines of Ashford - Dunwoody road, down a steep grassy hill, and into the restaurant. And oh, did I mention I was wearing heels?! We actually had a great time though - as Coleson said it was much more us that way! Plus it makes for a better story and hey, we didn't give in to the valet service! The food was yummy and we went all out since we had a giftcard - eggrolls, soups, general chu's chicken, chicken fried rice, and even a glass of wine. We were certainly out of our element though trying to order the wine. We didn't know what to get and then I remembered that Laura likes Reisling, so we decided to go for that. Except they had four different types. Not knowing any other way to pick one, we got the cheapest one! But it was still good. :) And we still have $5 left on our giftcard...
Anyways, it was a wonderful evening! We did realize we are a bit sheltered living way out here in the subarbs, but that's okay! It's fun to go to the city for a night, but also nice to come back. I think over time the crowds and traffic would get to me.
Well dear, Happy Anniversary to us!! I love you so much!! I look forward to many many more anniversaries. I love you and I love that we get to spend the rest of our lives together. Even though I'm still not sure what you saw in me ten years ago, I'm certainly glad you liked me enough to ask me out (twice!) and stick with me through my crazy years and my purple hair. I love you always and forever!!
